- anti-oxidation
Ferulic acid has strong antioxidant and oxygen free radical scavenging effects, and has the effect of inhibiting tyrosinase activity, which can delay skin aging and whiten skin. In addition, ferulic acid has sun protection ability, and has good ultraviolet absorption near 290-330 nm, which can prevent and reduce the damage of ultraviolet rays of this wavelength to the skin.
- blood lipid lowering
Ferulic acid can competitively inhibit the activity of valonate-5-pyrophosphate dehydrogenase in the liver and inhibit the synthesis of cholesterol in the liver, thereby achieving the purpose of lowering blood lipids.
- Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory
The inhibitory effect of ferulic acid on bacteria is more broad-spectrum. It has been found that ferulic acid can inhibit Shigella sonnei, Pneumococcus, Enterobacter, Escherichia coli, Citrobacter, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, etc. The reproduction of pathogenic bacteria and 11 microorganisms that cause food spoilage.
Application of ferulic acid in biology, medicine and industry
As an effective natural antioxidant, ferulic acid is highly safe and is widely used in food, cosmetics and new drug research and development.
