D-Mannose is a monosaccharide that occurs primarily as part of a larger macromolecule. It is not as sweet as sucrose and is a good sugar substitute for diabetics.

It is also an important component of the bird flu virus particle. When carbohydrates are metabolized, mannose is phosphorylated by hexokinase to form mannose-6-phosphate.

  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Avoid certain bacterial infections, such as urinary tract infections
  • Improve congenital glycosylation disease (carbohydrate deficiency glycoprotein syndrome)
  • Prebiotic effect

D-Mannose Application

  • For cell culture and molecular biology
  • Used as a biochemical reagent sweetener
  • A simple sugar
  • Used for N and O glycosylation of bovine protein products of infant formula milk powder
  • Responsible for O-glycosylation of helper T cell-derived cytokine interlukin-17A (an important cell signaling molecule)

In order to prevent frequent urinary tract infections, the experimental research dose is 2 grams per day, or 1 gram each time (twice a day). For the treatment of active urinary tract infections, the dose is 1.5 grams twice a day, for 3~ 5 days.
