What Is Icariin?
Icariin has a molecular formula of C33H40O15 and a molecular weight of 676.66. It is extracted from the aerial parts of the genus Epimedium (also known as Epimedium), specifically the species Epimedium sagittatum or Epimedium grandiflorum.
Icariin is a prenylated flavonol glycoside compound, which belongs to the flavonoid class. Icariin powder is brown (20% icariin) to light yellow (98% icariin) with a characteristic odor and bitter taste.
Icariin has been shown to improve cardiovascular and cerebrovascular blood flow, hematopoiesis, immune function, and bone metabolism. In addition, icariin helps maintain kidney function and has been shown to have anti-aging and anti-tumor effects.
