Effects of African Mango Seed Extract
African Mango Seed Extract has been found to reduce weight and decrease body fat. What’s even more impressive is that this fruit also has several other beneficial properties such as lowering the hunger hormone leptin and even lowering cholesterol levels. Unlike many fad dietary supplement crazes, this one actually has research to back it up!
According to a recent study published in the Journal of Lipids in Health and Disease, subjects who took just 1.05 grams of African Mango Seed Extract 3 times a day for one month showed significant weight loss, body fat reduction, and waist circumference reduction. During the one-month study period, all subjects were on the same calorie diet, which was assessed weekly through a dietary log book. In the end, subjects in the group receiving Irvingia Gabonensis Seed lost an average of 5.26 +/- 2.37% of their body weight! That was after one month of treatment and no exercise.
Further studies have shown that taking 150 mg of African Mango Seed Extract twice a day, 30 to 60 minutes before lunch and dinner, for 10 weeks, also significantly improved weight, body fat, waist circumference, and health indicators, including lowering total cholesterol, lowering blood sugar, and lowering levels of hormones associated with weight loss, including lipofuscin and leptin. When lipocalin is high, fat metabolism is switched on, while leptin helps control appetite.
These studies have shown that African Mango Seed Extract reduces body weight, body fat, waist circumference, improves blood sugar levels and lowers cholesterol.
(1) Boosts metabolism
The rate at which body fat is burned is called the metabolic rate. Slow metabolism is common in obese people, which can lead to fat accumulation over time. However, lipocalin, a hormone produced by fat cells in the body, is essential for controlling the body’s metabolic rate. Studies have shown that lipocalin levels rise with African Mango Seed Extract. Due to the increased metabolic activity, the body burns fat faster. Once the number of calories burned exceeds the number of calories absorbed, the body starts losing weight.
(2) Reduces cholesterol levels
Researchers found that Irvingia gabonensis supplements favourably affected the lipid profile of participants in a systematic evaluation of a randomised controlled trial of Irvingia Gabonensis. Another study suggests that the fruit’s high soluble fibre content may lower plasma cholesterol and triglycerides. Earlier studies have shown that oral administration of Irvingia gabonensis to people with type 2 diabetes for one month lowered blood glucose, total cholesterol, and triglycerides, while raising ‘good’ high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol.
(3) Appetite suppression
Weight gain is directly related to calorie intake. In addition, the body’s leptin hormone levels regulate our hunger. The leptin hormone that tells the brain when to stop eating is less sensitive in obese people. As a result, obese people eat much more than their bodies actually need. However, African Mango Seed Extract helps with leptin production and control, which reduces appetite.
(4) Maintains satiety
High levels of soluble fibre can be found in African Mango Seed Extract. Fibre takes some time to leave the stomach and delays gastric emptying, thus reducing hunger. When calorie intake is reduced, the body utilises its fat reserves as a source of energy, leading to weight loss.
